Tyneside Cinema

Opened in 1937, the Tyneside Cinema is a unique art deco style building in Newcastle city centre and a cultural asset to the whole of the North East region. The cinema recently reopened after a major restoration and extension.  Alongside its core programme of showing films and newsreels, their Learning, Engagement and Development team run over 40 creative arts courses for individuals of all ages and abilities. Over a 3 year period the Trust made a grant of £60,000 towards equipping the educational resource room.

Other education grants

Grants have been awarded to innovative organisations such as Skills 4U which trains young people in construction skills, to the Percy Hedley Foundation towards a New Conductive Education Centre, to the Seafood Training Centre for fishing industry skills and to the Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Service who provide training programmes in upland livestock farming.
