IT Training sessions in Newcastle for people who are visually impaired

Newly introduced accessibility features available on iPads and iPhones make them great tools for visually impaired people to stay connected with friends and family, as well as the wider world. The Trust awarded a grant of £1,000 to Henshaws Society for Blind People to help deliver a series of training workshops in Newcastle

The Hextol Foundation in Hexham create employment opportunities and provides training and support for people who are disabled or who may have other disadvantages.  The Trust awarded a grant of £4,000 towards the cost of employing a Training and Development Co-ordinator to oversee training, provide a principal link with other agencies and to facilitate recruitment into vacancies.

In 2015 the Trust invested in the exciting Centre for Enterprise and Innovation and the FabLab Sunderland, with a grant of £100,000. Situated within the University of Sunderland City Campus, the FabLab is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and tools to produce functional parts from many materials, using modern, digital-fabrication processes. The major project will create a first-class space for enterprise and innovation in the North East and will help students, artists, local businesses and the general public to be more creative and entrepreneurial.
